Your perspective is probably a lot different than the average high school student since you go to a private school in California - you are surrounded by hardworking, motivated students, I'm sure it is tough not to compare yourself to them! But I'm sure even in your own school you standout, just from reading this blog I can tell you are WAY ahead of the average teenager - even WAY above the above average teenager! Don't ever feel inadequate! Until I read your blog, I had never heard of a high school junior working so hard, and doing so many things to further their career. You have definitely inspired me to work harder on my goals too. I'm sure you will more than prove your all around capabilities at Seventeen this Summer.

Sorry this is so long, lol!

I actually have NO idea as to when GG will be back in Canada (in terms of an exact date) but it said April in the newspaper... so... I guess I'll be on the look out for GG news. It's weird because when GG first started in September, Canada always aired new episode one day before America... so I don't know what the deal is this time around.

Don't worry about trying to prove yourself, because you know you can. You've got a whole summer at Seventeen to impress, don't let your nerves get you! Best of luck to you!

At this point I don't even have an internship yet for this summer, because I'm so tempted to go watch the Olympics in Beijing everyday and shop my butt off since a new mall in Beijing just opened and I heard it's awesome.

seriously, living probably about 10 miles away from you AND going to a prep school like yours (well not as challenging but whatever) most HS juniors in our area are more concerned about how to score a blunt for free and how to shoplift earrings from claire's.
Even though I'm a senior I wish I was as accomplished as you when I was a junior.

Both of you are very lucky i would say, i don't have this kind of chance when i'm younger. Anyway i love reading your blog. Gd luck to your intern-ing at seventeen!=)
  • miss kiwi · 1 year ago
i think you're already super lucky! i don't haven't figured out what i'm going to do with my summer and it's already march. i'm feeling a bit freaked out... so you're really really lucky!
  • Ely · 1 year ago
i wouldn't even worry about it. You're going to be working all summer--thats two months time to show to the industry that you're someone to be taken seriously, and judging from your posts you indeed are. Your friend is working for two weeks--I did two two-week internships last summer and to be honest, that wasn't enough time to prove anything to anyone.

You have the resume, passion, and work ethic to get to where you want to be. And after this summer, you'll have the connections as well. :)

I know exactly how you feel. I think a part of me was jealous yet envious of YOU when I read how young you were and were getting my dream internship; Seventeen is a magazine I have been following since I was 10 or 11 and Atoosa is one of my serious heros, (she's up there with God) even though she's not at Seventeen anymore, she's inspiring and that's what Seventeen is really about, inspiring girls, and I want to be apart of that. Well, anyway, I think that sometimes I get envious of other people because I see them succeed and then I think I can do even better, so that is probably why I work so hard and sleep so little and ruin my immune system, yay! jk, hopefully I'll get my schedule in check. I know I do so much and I know you do so much. Do you ever feel like you're neglecting your friends? I do. And I do it too often, and I'm so thankful none of them have defriended me.

I don't know if I ever told you this, but I'm so happy for you! Especially, since this is a great opportuinity for someone who is a child of God! :)

You have a great opportunity. How many seventeen year olds do you know that intern at Seventeen? I don't know. I'm sitting here typing like a proud mother. You inspire me to follow my dreams; you are the reason I began my own blog. And although you are happy about you friend's accomplishments, don't forget your own. Because God has blessed you greatly and he will continue to.

You just have to think about how out of the ordinary your accomplishments already are.

When I'm famous and fabulous, we can have lunch. ;)

Wow, you're doing great things! I came to your site just looking to link up, but I admit, I did some snooping. Good luck on the seventeen best dressed contest! I was chosen for 2007 and it was such a great experience. But, yes, link up?

Eh, don't stress. Marketing and editorial are entirely separate at magazines - she's probably not even going to talk to magazine editors except for her Teen Vogue lunch. At a lot of places, the marketing department is on a different floor or even in a different building from the mag!
