I got "lost" on the Teen Vogue floor and stumbled upon her. We chatted and she really liked my style so she gave me her email insead of an autograph like I originally intended (haha fashion nerd).

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

russfashionista:
*gasp* Lucky you! Why did you meet her? Thanks hun -- I already have her email :].
Rachel:
Thank you so much for the advice! I'm looking into Swarthmore because I want to experience a quirky environment where my intellectual abilities can be stretched -- my English teacher attended Swarthmore and he inspired me to major in English. Congratulations on McGill!
CollegeDad:
Thank you so much! I'm SO excited to visit Barnard :]. I'm so glad your daughter is having such a wonderful time.
Kylie:
Aww Miami is a little too far south for me, but thanks so much hun :]!

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

You sound like you're going to be busy. Our daughter is in her First Year at Barnard. Whole range of fashions on the young ladies. Ask about the intern opportunities they have available. Upenn, however, is a school i definitely would stay in the area for...although i am much, much more inclined to favor NYC over Philadelphia.

but i hope you enjoy yourself, and have a great time meeting with those editors! honestly, i envy you...ill be freezing my butt off in Montreal visiting McGill University (which ive been accepted to and will probably attend). im so excited because i want to know what my life would be like there (and McGill just got ranked in the top 20 universities in the world! haha so exciting)

oh, one more thing...wear comfortable shoes, but also, especially since youre coming from California, bring more than enough cold-weather clothes! honestly, i live in Pennsylvania, and visiting some schools in New York last year, all i had was a fleece jacket and i basically froze.

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

I met the Teen Vogue editors! That is REALLY exciting to me...I've always wanted to experience Mississippi River culture :].
Vii:
I'm definitely going to wear flats ;]. I barely ever visit Beijing but someday I'm bound to return :] -- we have to meet up then!
Kori:
Why thank you! Well for Seventeen, I'm interning there. For Teen Vogue, I do a lot of work in fashion journalism so Jane Keltner invited me over. For CosmoGIRL!, I have an acquaintance who works there and who knows I'd appreciate the visit so much.
Margherita:
Aw, only two days?! That really sucks... Thanks hun!
danielshoe:
Aww :[ well we're going to have plenty of chances to hang out ;].
Katie:
Hehe yikes, I'm not too interested in New England preppy as a look since I've developed an "overdress for everything" style but I do have a cute pair of Jeffrey Campbells that I might wear ;]. Thanks so much!
Anonymous:
Heh, just a lot of willpower will get me through, I suppose. And caffeine :-P.
Anonymous:
Thanks for the suggestions! I am probably going to wear flats, dresses, tights, etc. I can't imagine wearing polo and jeans to college visits when I wear dresses and heels to school to school hehe.
Jordan:
Oh, I can definitely imagine myself stashing a pair of heels in my purse for when I visit Teen Vogue haha. Thanks dear!
Miss Kiwi:
Thank you! I'm definitely excited...and very tired :-P.
Laura:
Thanks for the advice! I'm probably going to stick with flats, tights, and dresses since I wear dresses to school and don't want to dress down for college visits. Stiletto boots...wow, you're my hero ;].
Kathio:
Wow, you go to Penn? What are you majoring in? You seem like such a creative soul and I really hope you decide to apply to Penn - I won't be here when you graduate, but I know you'll love it. I'm also interning in NYC this summer. This will be my second summer there, but I still remember how intimidating the city seemed at first. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

I made the mistake of wearing stilleto ankle boots when I toured my university. I did look stylish, but I was in a lot of pain. Campus tours are long and can be quite trying as it is, plus you go up and down loads of stairs, so stick to flats or a pair of cute boots with a low heel. With a pair of dressy jeans, a nice blouse and a cardigan, you should be good to go. Just make sure you look polished!

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

sounds like a week full of fun! junior year is definitely a marathon... a long, hard, and tiring one.

good luck!

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

Only wear heels when you go to Teen Vogue if you really want to wear heels.

Cute flats or always in style, babydoll dresses are comfy, and headbands rule! Some of these tours are two hours long (case in point: UCLA. 2 and 1/2 hours with hills. I felt bad for the mom next to me in 4 inch stilettos!) Looking your best definitely isn't your #1 priority, but a fashionista such as yourself will probably look the best on your tour. By the time you hit Wellesley, you'll be overwhelmed and exhausted

Re: http://www.misscouturable.com/2008/03/spring-break-plans-best-impressions.html

Oh my god, how do you do it? Surprisingly, I don't have a lot of pictures of Beijing despite growing up there, so this summer will be the perfect opportunity to catch up on pictures in Beijing.
